On a typically
sunny day at a neighborhood park, eight-year-old Isabel screams at the
top of her lungs.
Clearly panicking, Philip Gordon runs from the scene like a man running
for his life. Four men
chase him; Gordon reaches a fence and starts to climb.
A hand pulls him to the ground; the men circle him and begin
beating him. Later, Horatio
and Tripp view Gordon’s dead body at the scene.
Tripp runs a trace and learns Gordon was a registered sex
offender who was not supposed to come within 100 ft of a child.
Gordon lived in Alexx’s neighborhood; she tells Horatio everyone
knew he was a registered sex offender.
Alexx
examines the body and finds a stab wound in addition to bruises from the
beating.
Delko finds a
child’s toy cell phone on the playground.
The phone belongs to Victor Terraza’s daughter, Isabel.
Terraza tells Horatio that Gordon tried to grab his daughter
while she was playing.
He confesses that he and the other men went after Gordon after he
approached Isabel. Terraza
says everyone in the neighborhood knew about Gordon because of the
posters that were everywhere.
Alexx finds a trace of a green fertilizer on both Gordon and
Isabel. Delko finds one of
the posters; it has Alexx’s fingerprints all over it.
Alexx tells Horatio that she put the posters up to protect her
kids. He warns her that now
she needs to think about protecting herself.
Gordon
was living with his brother, Robert, and his wife Hayley.
Delko and Tripp arrive at Robert’s house which has a broken
window and graffiti all over it.
Hayley tells Horatio they were letting Gordon stay with them
until he got on his feet.
Delko takes Gordon’s computer back to the lab.
Alexx gets her schedule changed to nights by Gary Halliwell, the
chief Medical Examiner.
Halliwell tells her she’s got a better shot at the Deputy Chief
position if she stays clear of Horatio’s team.
Delko’s investigation reveals that Ned Ostroff, another sex
offender charged with stalking a porn star, had sent Gordon a “pornado,”
better known as email porn.
Ostroff admits he sent Gordon the verboten porn in hopes that
Gordon would be sent back to jail.
Since Gordon moved into the neighborhood, Ostroff had been
getting harassed by the neighbors and he just wanted Gordon gone, but
swears he didn’t kill him.
Wolfe
finds a rock in Robert’s trash can with the message “you ruined
everything” and tracks the rock to Julia Hill, an 18-year-old girl from
the neighborhood. Ten
years prior, Gordon broke into her home and molested her.
Alexx tells Wolfe she got harassed by Halliwell for writing the
prescription for Wolfe’s eye infection.
Wolfe denies telling anyone about it, but somehow, the
department’s “mole” got the information to Halliwell.
The note found in Robert’s trash reveals traces of fertilizer.
Ostroff
is frantic; he tells Horatio that someone threatened him with a gun.
Alexx tells Horatio she’s feeling guilty about putting the
posters up. Horatio assures
her she was just trying to protect her family.
Calleigh IDs the gun as a Colt 19-11.
Delko searches Ostroff’s neighborhood for the owner of the gun
and comes across Terraza’s name.
Horatio is certain that Terazza brought Isabel to the park to
bait Gordon. Tripp pats
Terraza down and finds a knife, but it doesn’t match the one that
stabbed Gordon. Delko finds
a serrated knife, the kind used in the killing, in Robert’s house.
Hayley confesses that she and Robert had been trying to have a
baby for three years and she was finally pregnant but the stress of
having Gordon living with them caused her to lose the baby.
Robert confesses to Horatio that he went to
the
park to find Gordon and tell him he had to move out.
But once he caught Gordon lurking on the playground, he knew his
brother wouldn’t change; Gordon even confesses to him that he didn’t
know if he could change.
Robert admits he lost control and stabbed his brother.
Alexx tells Halliwell she’s going to continue to work with
Horatio and the team because they are like family and she wants to work
with people she respects.
Horatio assures Alexx her posters weren’t to blame for Gordon’s death
and that he’s glad to have her back.
