CSI: Miami
“Calleigh Duquesne”
(Emily Procter)
Known as “Bullet
Girl” throughout the Miami-Dade Police Department, Calleigh is a
top-drawer ballistics expert who can ID calibers on sight.
However, the suicide, in her
presence and in “her” ballistics lab, by another investigator, has left
her rethinking her professional future.
She grew up the privileged daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Kenworth Duquesne, a lawyer and an aspiring novelist.
A true southern gent with a weakness for John Barleycorn,
Duquesne hoped his daughter would also marry a southern gent and settle
down. He is surprised, but
proud, of the path she has chosen.
For her part, Calleigh is quick to come to her dad’s aide when
trouble arises, but as any member of a recovering alcoholic’s family,
her concern for his addiction is never far from the surface.
Having
been present when her boyfriend took his own life at the end of Season
Three, Calleigh took time off from the Firearms Department in Season
Four, but soon returned when it became clear that her replacement was
not up to her standards.
Later in the season, another former beau surprises her with a visit,
only to announce his engagement.
It is this man and his fiancée whose actions put the entire lab
in jeopardy of being closed down, and Calleigh must figure out what is
going on to keep she and her colleagues out of deep trouble.
As
Season Five begins, Calleigh takes on a new leadership role, albeit
briefly, while Horatio is out of the country.
In doing so, she firmly establishes Natalia Boa Vista’s place on
the team and lets the other CSI’s know that past indiscretions will be
put aside in order to keep the lab’s work the focus of the CSI “family.”
