Horatio and
Alexx stand on Miami Beach
looking down at the body parts of Cuban baseball player Ario Pastano.
Alexx examines Ario’s plastic explosive-filled torso.
Horatio orders Tripp to freeze.
Tripp’s foot is on a live land mine.
Wolfe and Natalia find Porche tire tracks and a binocular
eyepiece in the sand while a bomb tech frees a nervous Detective Tripp.
Delko
questions bartender and suspected Cuban refugee aide Roberto Chavez.
Delko breaks up a
bar fight between married couple Carmen and Vince Henney.
Vince hits Delko on the head with a beer bottle.
Delko knocks Vince down with one punch.
Vince threatens to sue Delko.
Horatio questions Walter Dunley, whose binocular eyepiece the
team found in the sand, about the land mines.
Walter admits to watching Ario’s death but denies planting the
mines. Walter tells Horatio
he saw high-powered sports agent Barry Ellis’ Porche speed away after
the blast.
orHohHHHBarry explains
to Horatio that he helped Cuban baseball players Ario Pastano and Jorge
Zamareno escape from Cuba to
Miami.
Horatio visits the baseball field and speaks to rookie Jorge
Zamareno and veteran all-American pitcher Lou Pennington.
Jorge thinks Cuban hit man and Castro loyalist Guillermo had
something to do with Ario’s death.
Vince Henney is found dead next to a lead pipe.
Calleigh
and Wolfe arrest Lou Pennington after discovering a mixture of mineral
oil, turpentine and rosin, which pitchers often use on their gloves, on
the land mine fragments.
Lou admits to planting the mines ... because he was afraid of losing his
position to the Cuban baseball players.
Delko
and Natalia find paranchia (a.k.a. bar rot) on the lead pipe.
They arrest bartender Roberto Chavez after he admits to hitting
and killing Vince Henney, because Henney had refused to share the
lawsuit money he planned to get from Delko.
